PanARMENIAN.Net - Georgia has consistently supported Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili said following his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during his visit to Baku, APA reports.

"Georgia and Azerbaijan firmly support each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and I want to thank the President once again for that," Kavelashvili stated.

He also welcomed the agreement reached on the text of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"We believe the peace agreement will be signed soon. I reaffirm Georgia's readiness to contribute to the peace process," said the Georgian President.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has previously stated that the peace agreement draft between Armenia and Azerbaijan is already agreed upon and only awaits final signature. He noted that he had proposed to the Azerbaijani President to initiate consultations regarding the signing of the finalized draft.

On March 13, Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced it had accepted Azerbaijan's proposals on two previously unresolved articles and confirmed that the peace agreement is ready for signing. Yerevan declared its readiness to begin consultations on the date and location of the signing. However, Baku has introduced new preconditions and claimed it is premature to discuss timelines for the meeting.
